Sales Engineer
Position Overview:
This position will be responsible for providing technical support for the Tealeaf sales team throughout the sales cycle. The Systems Engineer will partner with the sales representative and take joint responsibility for successful deal closing by facilitating proof of concepts (POC's) and managing all aspects of technical evaluations. This is a full-time position that reports to the Director of Field Engineering.
Details:
- Supports the sales team in technical demonstrations.
- Provides technical due-diligence on the viability of a sales prospect. This includes architectural fit and application fit.
- Can install and configure the full solution including network hardware, servers, and database.
- Can work in diverse server environments, including understanding how to architecturally recommend how Tealeaf should install. Familiarity with both Microsoft and Unix environments.
- Can facilitate proof of concepts (POC's) and production installs end-to-end, including planning, installation, training, and documentation.
- Computer Science or Engineering degree – Formal training in web technology and understanding of applications and code
- 3-5+ years experience at a major consultancy or consulting division.
- Experience working on-site in demanding customer situations; proven ability to work in a sales focused organization; exposure to many IT disciplines; ready to take on more responsibility
- Direct experience on web development or web integration projects. Understanding of the systems and processes involved with real-world deployments; experience with the real-world issues faced when deploying complex systems; understand problem tracking and resolution
- Understanding of project management and systems life cycle. Understanding the various phases that are required to develop and deploy a web system; understanding of the owners and functional roles in the various phases; understand the project management challenges faced across phases and functional roles.
- Understanding of web systems (physical, logical, hardware, software). Understanding of how the different components in a web system fit together and affect each other; fundamental understanding of architecture (can form opinions regarding unfamiliar components based on categorical knowledge)
